What happens at a dyslexia essment?
my 9 year old daughter has dyslexia it was only diagnosed in primary school year 5 i always thought she had dyslexia , but it was confirmed by the teacher when she moved schools and went to a school which was dyslexia friendly this is were her teacher told me she suspects my daughter is dyslexic a educational psychologist was called we waited 3 months for a appointment i was told this was fast she did a IQ test on my daughter she did a test on her which determined she was capable of english and had understanding of a child her age the rest of the tests were used against this first test my daughter showed poor in maths, poor in literacy, poor in concentration ,poor in memory and very significant difficulties in motor skills. the educational psychologist told me my daughter has severe dyslexia and is recommending a special educational needs teacher as her learning is very poor. we were then sent to a community paediatric consultant here they continued tests with her the dr recommended a book to me called the gift of dyslexia it has lots of exercises in the back to help with dyslexia. my daughter is now awaiting a appointment for occupational therapy i hope this helps you and good luck
