What can a single mom and convicted felon do to get off welfare?

Well i made a mistake a few years ago and went from being an lpn to a loser. I went to cosmetology school after but it just does not seem to be my thing, need tutoring to p my state boards. I am working with my state (mi) to get help with a job. I also can get my nursing license back in august however chances of getting a job are slim till i get this felony expunged. My po said this was likely. So until then should i go for office administration work? Will my felony be a big deal in that field? Or should I grit my teeth and try to work on the cosmetology? You think someone would give me a chance since I want to work and cost the state $770+ a month. Any advice would be nice. Crime was ult on my ex, btw.
